Waving HI…

I owe a proper update. I realize I fell off the blogging band wagon. Gracious, things have been SO busy. I hope to get to catch up properly tomorrow. :)

Not Me! Monday

A few weeks ago, MckMama brought back the famous Not Me! Monday. I have been a blog slacker of late (anyone notice?! :p) and I haven’t gotten back on track with Not Me! Monday since MckMama did, but I’m here today and it’s time for another installment.

  • I am not a children’s clothes hoarder. It simply cannot be ME that won’t get rid of itty bitty baby clothes that the girls have both long outgrown. It can’t be me that won’t part with those tiny gowns, onesies, dresses outfits. Because, really, I am the one that likes to consign after the second child has gotten their wear out of clothes. So, how could it possibly be me that has stored more than three bins of tiny baby clothes in our attic?!  (I won’t mention how many bins of various other sizes are up there or soon to be up there. NOT ME!!)
  • Speaking of clothing, I did not trash our guest room this morning in the name of organizing said clothes, right? Because how can you junk up a room and call it organizational?! That couldn’t have been what I did.
  • I wasn’t a touch disappointed this morning when I weighed-in for Spark People. For goodness sakes, the scale moved down 2.8lbs from last Monday, so how could I have been disappointed about THAT?! I am one that believes in progress being good, so surely I didn’t get just a touch of disappointment this morning even though I am making progress.
  • Last week when our girls were having their portraits taken, I did not dance and shake my booty like a fool to get them to smile for the camera. Because my girls don’t cheese up for cameras, do they?! I didn’t have to act like a complete goofball to get their real smiles to come out, did  I?! Noooo…NOT ME!
  • I didn’t forget to pack a lunch for Mickey to take to work today. Because I said I would pack him a lunch AND send in some healthy snacks for him too. So, I couldn’t possibly have gotten busy this morning and let THAT slip my mind, right??
  • I didn’t have to eat one of the cupcakes that I made for Macey’s un-birthday celebration at school. They were looked so good and were so tempting, but I know I didn’t eat one, did I?!

That’s it for this week. I probably have more that I didn’t do, but my brain is pondering too many things right now – like the end of Kindergarten (on Friday) and summer activities.

Hope y’all have a great week,
Kelly

Keep Nurses in Georgia Schools!

From the Georgia Association of School Nurses:

In 2000 the Governor at that time (Barnes) appropriated $30 million of the Tobacco Settlement funds toward School Nurse Salaries. In 2004 that money was moved to the Department of Community Health to be used to draw down federal match funds to support the Indigent Care Trust funding for hospitals and then it was returned to the Department of Education to continue funding some School Nursing positions. In 2006 Governor Perdue moved that funding to the Department of Education budget as a line item where it reportedly would be more “safe” from reallocation for other agencies.

In the Governors 2010 Budget proposal, this line item is completely eliminated. This $30 million is only a small portion of what is required to staff nurses in all schools. The counties who do staff nurses in all schools are doing so for the most part with local funds (received from the Ad Valorem taxes). Some systems also participate in the Medicaid reimbursement for some approved R.N. provided services, grants and various other limited sources.

As a parent with one child in Georgia public school and another one coming up to public school in a few years, I find this to be an outrage.  Removing nurses from schools is of detriment to our schools.  Nurses do so much and are of so much value to schools. Removing them is not only causing a loss of jobs, but is also potentially putting students in jeopardy. Any cuts to funding for schools is cause for alarm. So, please, if you live in Georgia, sign this petition to let our Legislators know that we do not support this decision. Please also email Governor Perdue and your local representatives. If we take action, maybe we can put a stop to this before it causes any harm to Georgia’s schools and children.

Reviving My Blog…

My goodness, I have been a blog slacker. Ugh. If anyone is still reading or attempting to read, let me apologize of the lack of posts in the last couple of months. December was busy, crazy, BLESSED and fun. I hardly had time to think, let alone post very much. And, then, well, I honestly just didn’t feel like I had anything “of worth” to post about. I have come to realize that I don’t always have to have big things to say as long as I just write what is on my heart and mind. So, with that, I am dusting off the cobwebs over here and getting back to blogging. Stay tuned…

Merry Christmas!

Luke 2: 10-11 (NLV)

I bring you good news of great joy which is for all people. Today, One Who saves from the punishment of sin has been born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.

Dusting off the cobwebs…

Okay, I’m going to try again to revive my blog. I really do enjoy blogging, but since school started for the girls, I feel like I’m always on the go. Also, two members of our family had surgery in the month of September, so it’s been a crazy time around our home. Macey is full recouperated from her surgery and has been released from her surgeon’s care.  Praise God that it all went so smoothly and that she has healed so well! Mickey had surgery on his legs this past Wednesday for compartment syndrome and he has been a real rock star patient. He is doing incredibly well. Again, praises to God!! So, our family has had quite a lot going on, but maybe I can find time to get back into blogging because I miss it. :)

Chapman Family Interviews…

If you haven’t seen the recent interviews with Steven Curtis Chapman and his family, I have some video links. The testimony of the Chapman family is so powerful. They have faced an unthinkable tragedy in the death of their daughter/sister Maria Sue. They are continuing to deal with the grief and loss every day. They are getting through this journey with faith. Absolute unwavering faith. I have had a tremendous amount of respect for this family for a long time and that has only grown. Let’s please remember to keep them in our prayers.

From Good Morning America:

Larry King Live video segment. This is a synopsis video. YouTube has several postings with the complete interview broken into series clips.

Blessings,
Kelly

Steven Curtis Chapman on Larry King Live

Steven Curtis Chapman and family will appear on Larry King Live tonight. This is what is on the Larry King segment of CNN’s website – A tragic accident led to a miracle — and reinforced their faith. They’re taking your calls. It’s an hour of inspiration and hope tonight on Larry King Live! I have set our DVR to record this. Steven Curtis and family have always had such an amazing story and testimony. I can only imagine how powerful this segment will be.

I’m back…

I’m sorry I have let my blog get stale of late. July has just been BUSY. And, I do mean B-U-S-Y!! First we had Macey’s 5th birthday and celebrations for that, then traveling over the 4th, then Mickey went away to camp for a week while Macey had dance camp in the afternoons here at home. Then we had a beach vacation with two other families that are close friends of ours. So, it’s been GO GO GO!! But, I’m back now and I plan to dust off this blog and get it back on track again. :)

Congrats, Donna!!
